ESTUDIANTES DE HONDURAS

Meet Dulce Q., 6th Grader at the Escuela Bilingüe Villa Soleada

Dulce, a student from Villa Soleada, is one of the most smartest students at the Villa Soleada Bilingual School. She would like to study theater and also join the military. When she grows up, she wants to travel everywhere and help different communities. Dulce loves math such as multiplying, dividing, and adding. One thing she works extra hard on is subtraction. She enjoys practicing math because she can get the exact answers. After finishing her classwork, Dulce offers to help her fellow classmates. One of the reasons she studies hard is for her family and future.

Interview Notes:

We shared both smiles and tears during this interview. It has been a pleasure to see Dulce from Villa Soleada grow over the years. Oftentimes, one will see Dulce and her sister, Karla, walk into the school with linked arms ready to learn and conquer the day. She is one of the quieter students, but anyone can tell how sweet she is through her actions. Despite being one of the first students done with her work, she always offers to help her classmates. One of the topics we talked most about was what education and learning meant to her. It makes her happy to learn more and more everyday. She even mentioned that she likes bigger books with more pages because she can learn more. She takes to heart the importance of education and how it can open opportunities for her. One of the reasons she studies hard is because of her family. Her family means a lot to her. Despite the difficult hardships, she continues to study hard and wants to be successful in the future for them. She exhibits maturity beyond her years. It is humbling to see so much determination, optimism, and grace in a student like her. We will always be cheering for her and her education journey!
