Personas Hondureñas: Meet Don Marco Ramos, Director of Construction

Meet Don Marco Ramos, Director of Construction

“I was born in Tegucigalpa on December 25th. In 2000, I came to El Progreso for work where I fell in love and got married. In 2007, I met Shin and Cosmo Fujiyama where I was building classrooms for the Escuela El Porvenir, where my son, Marco Junior, was studying. I always liked to collaborate in directives and groups that supported the community. I was elected president of the Parents Association where I offered to work for free on the construction of the classrooms, and I got to know Shin and Cosmo. In 2009, I received a phone call from them and they offered me a job. I refused at the time because I had a job and was earning a good salary. However, after three meetings with Cosmo, I accepted the offer. I began on December 9, 2009. Believe me, if you asked me now how I feel, I would say it was the best decision of my life. I have worked for over 8 years and have met numerous young people from all over the world. It makes me proud to contribute a grain of sand to help educate these children that need it so much. I am happy to be able to help so many kids from different communities here in Honduras. I am very grateful to this organization and to have my two children in the Villa Soleada Bilingual School.”
