“At first, where we lived, life was really hard, until the organization [SHH] arrived, and we tried to get involved. Our resources were limited. It was difficult to find a job because there were none and, I don’t know, it was really hard for us to have a house. Because of the opportunity SHH gave us, we were able to work on our house together. When we got the house, it was like a dream come true. We were very happy. At that point, I was working in a factory and they closed the factory, and I was left without a job. From then on, I started working more with the organization. The work was very different. I started getting more involved, and I liked it, and I said to myself, ‘this is good, because they are trying to help more people”.
By that time, we started building the Children’s Home. And after that, we started working on the first school in Villa. And well, I remember one day we were working and suddenly Shin appeared. He was writing down a list of all of the names of the kids of the parents that were working on the school. And well I thought, ‘This is good, the school will open soon’. Cesia was almost 6 years old, and she was already old enough to start school. I was one of the first one to tell Shin ‘yes, write down Cesia’s name, she will go to school’. And, well, in school she has been growing, and now Moises is in school too.
Like I’ve said, it was like a dream come true. And working with the organization, I don’t know, I feel very lucky to work here because I have met many people who like to help others, and they are teaching me to help more people with my work. And I think that working with many people from other places has taught me a lot and before this I had a different mentality.
Moises wants to be a firefighter to put out fires, and Cesia a lawyer or doctor to help people. My dream is for them to be whatever they want to be- if she wants to be a doctor, and if it’s possible, she should be a doctor. And if she wants to be a lawyer, she should be a lawyer. That is my dream, that she achieves what she wants. And well, if Moises wants to be a firefighter or police, that as well. And well, that is our story. “

“De principio, donde vivíamos, era bien difícil la vida allí, hasta que llego la organización, y tratamos de como hacernos llegar a Uds.,. Estábamos bien escasos de recursos. Buscar empleo era difícil porque no había y, no se, estaba bien difícil que tuviéramos una casa. Pues allí empezamos a trabajar más con la organización sobre la casa con la oportunidad que nos dieron. Y así cuando nos la dieron fue como un sueño hecho realidad. Estábamos muy felices.
De allí, pues tenía un empleo en una fábrica y allí se canceló la fábrica, y ya me quedé sin trabajo. Entonces ya me empecé a meter más a trabajar con la organización. Era bien diferente el trabajo. Y así empecé a involucrarme, y me gusto, y me dije ‘esto está bueno, porque trata de como de ayudar a más personas’.
Y es entonces cuando empezamos a hacer el hogar. Y después, ya se empezó con la la primera escuela de Villa. y bueno, recuerdo un día que estábamos trabajando y de repente apareció Shin con una lista y ando anotando todos los padres que van a empezar con los niños aquí. Y, pues, ‘esto esta bueno, ya va a abrir la escuela’. Cesia tenía ya 6 años y ella ya tenía la edad de empezar la escuela. Yo fui uno de los primeros en decirle SI, anotame a Cesia, que ella va a ir a la escuela. Y, bueno, allí ha ido creciendo y ahora Moises ya esta también en la escuela también.
Como les digo, casi fue como un sueño de hecho realidad. Y trabajar con la organización, no se, me siento muy afortunado de trabajar aquí porque he conocido mucha gente que le gusta ayudar, y también me están enseñando a ayudar a más personas con el trabajo y yo siento que al trabajar con bastantes personas como Uds. yo he ido aprendiendo porque yo antes tenia como otra mentalidad.
Moisés quiere ser bombero para apagar incendios, y Cesia abogada o doctora para ayudar a las personas. Mi sueño es que sean lo que quieran ser – si doctora, pues si se puede, que sea doctora.Y si abogada, que sea abogada. Ese sería mi sueño, que ella logre ser lo que quiera. Y Bueno, si él quiere ser bombero o policía, pues también. Esta es nuestro historia.”
