Meet Neydi Padilla, Teacher at the Villa Soleada Bilingual School
Tengo 29 años y nací en Tela, Atlántida. Vivo con mi madre y mi abuela, y soy la hermana menor. Me gradué como maestra y decidí serlo porque me gustaba enseñar, y además tenía el ejemplo a seguir de mi madre, quien dedicó toda su vida a la educación. Creciendo con ella me di cuenta del papel tan importante que tiene la educación en la sociedad.
No siempre quise ser maestra, al principio no me estaba gustando, pero cuando hice las prácticas profesionales, el primer dia que me presente delante de los niños, es cuando todo cambió en mi. Ahí fue cuando me empezó a gustar y le empecé a agarrar el gusto a la profesión, por la alegría y la satisfacción que da al ayudar a los niños. Ahí comencé a amar mi profesión y hoy puedo decir que me encanta enseñar, porque al final es transmitir conocimiento y ser guia de los niños.
La tarea del maestro es facilitar el aprendizaje de los alumnos, porque se nos da la responsabilidad de poder enseñar y hacer profesionales de éxito para nuestro país, y por eso es tan importante la educación para todos.
Encontré este trabajo a través de un conocido de la universidad. No conocía nada de la escuela y cuando la busqué por internet me llamó la atención. Vi fotos, y las actividades que hacían parecían distintas y me llenó de curiosidad. Cuando me citaron para la entrevista y conocí a las directoras, me parecieron fantásticas, y parece que yo les gusté también porque me contrataron y desde Agosto llevo en la Escuela Bilingüe de Villa Soleada.
Yo doy clases de ciencias sociales, cívica, tecnológica y artística. También hago tiempo con mis alumnos para hacer huerto, ya que intento hacer dinámicas mis clases y es algo que les gusta mucho.
Cada día es un reto ya que cada alumno y sus circunstancias personales son distintas y nunca sabes cómo se van a presentar cada día. La parte que más me gusta es cuando como maestra logras que los alumnos cumplas sus objetivos, y cuando ellos te expresan el cariño, te hacen más confortable el día a día.
Lo que más me gusta de trabajar para SHH es cómo ayudan. Como persona te llena, te da mucha satisfacción poder contribuir al desarrollo de nuestro país de la manera que la organización lo hace. Y podemos compartir con diferentes personas de otros países que nos aportan mucho.
Lo que más me gusta de trabajar en la escuela es que veo que nuestros alumnos tienen más oportunidades, tienen conocimiento de dos idiomas y hoy en día eso es de gran ayuda e importancia en nuestra sociedad. En lo personal me encanta compartir momentos con el equipo de la escuela, y me encanta poder compartir con los extranjeros nuestra cultura y aprender de ellos también. El día a día en la escuela es muy alegre, divertido y dinámico, y tratamos siempre que la estancia de nuestros alumnos en la escuela sea de mucho provecho. Y esta es mi historia.

I am 29 years old and I was born in Tela, Atlántida. I live with my mother and grandmother, and I am the youngest sister. I graduated as a teacher; I decided to become one because I liked teaching and to follow the example of my mother, who dedicated her whole life to education. Growing up with her I realized the important role that education has in society.
I did not always want to be a teacher and at first I didn’t like it, but when I was doing my internships and showed up the first day in front of the students, everything changed for me. That’s when I started to like it, I started to get a feel for the profession, for the joy and satisfaction it gives to be able to help children. I began to love my profession and today I can say that I love teaching, because in the end, the goal is to share knowledge and guide the students.
The teacher’s role is to facilitate students’ learning. We are given the responsibility of teaching and forming successful professionals for our country, and that is why education is so important for everyone.
I found this job through a friend from university. I didn’t know anything about the school and when I searched it online it caught my attention. I saw photos, and the activities they were doing seemed different and made me curious. When I was called for the interview and I met the directors, they seemed fantastic. It seemed that they also liked me because they hired me and since August I have been working at Villa Soleada Bilingual School.
I teach social studies, civic studies, technology class and art class. I also spend time with my students working in the garden- I try to make my classes dynamic and enjoyable.
Every day is a challenge because each student has different personal circumstances and you never know what each day will bring. What I like the most is helping students reach their goals and when they express their love for you. They make you more comfortable day by day.
What I like most about working for SHH is how they help. As a person it fills your heart, it gives you great satisfaction to be able to contribute to the development of our country in the way the organization does. And we get to spend time with people from other countries who contribute a lot.
What I like most about working at the school is that I see that our students have more opportunities, they know two languages and today that is a huge help and of great importance in our society. Personally, I love to share moments with the school team and I love being able to share our culture with foreigners and learn from them too. The day-to-day at school is very happy, fun and dynamic. We always try to make the time at the school beneficial for the students. And this is my story.
